Have joined together and formed
National Co-ordination Committee to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s
150th birth anniversary during 2nd Oct. 2018 and
2nd Oct 2019.
We at Kolkata have formed a group
titled “Gandhi 150 West Bengal Committee” with Shri Atmaram Saraogi, Convener & Shri Mahesh
Lodha, Secretary, Shri Rajendra Kedia and Shri Raj Gopal Sureka as
member. National Co-ordination Committee has given us to undertake
this responsibility for greater Kolkata.
WHAT WE DO
The group felt that we should
think of program directed at the youth. It has, therefore, been
decided to select some leading schools in Kolkata to hold such program.
With this objective we have
designed a game of quiz, “Kaun Jaanta Gandhi ko” (कौन जानता
गांधी को( on
Gandhi to be conducted at schools of Kolkata.
HOW WE DO IT
We have created three sets
of questions being conducted in three sessions of different grade of students
i.e. for
1. Higher Secondary students
(classes IX to XII),
2. Secondary students (classes V
to VIII), and
3. Primary students (I to IV).
Questions in every set are not fixed.
These are being constantly changed and upgraded.
The quiz starts with a slide show
of 100 slides depicting life and work of Mahatma while his favourite bhajan ‘vaishanv
jan to tene kahiye’ is being played in the background. The duration of the
entire program is approximately 70-80 minutes and is conducted by our team on Power
Point. All the three sessions may be conducted one after the other on the
same day.
The school principal &
concerned teachers select the team and the team members for each session to
play the quiz. All other students of the relevant section remain in the hall
watching the game. There are questions for the students sitting in the hall
also. This generates lot of interest and excitement among all the students of
the participating school.
OUR OBJECTIVE
The idea of the quiz is not to
test the knowledge of the students but to let them know about Gandhi. Students
read pages to take part in the competition and then during the quiz we explain question,
answers and facts about the life of Mahatma. We have designed the quiz in a way
which helps shape the character of the participating students and of those
present, with Gandhian values.
The program is tailored to suit
the individual school’s timings and convenience. We also
distribute prizes to participants and winners.
